I’m Mara. I like to draw.

I call my style “soft werewolf maximalism.” This term came out of a romance eBook cover design I did. It covers a lot of what I like – organic forms (like people, plants, animals) and putting everything I can think of on the page. My traditional illustrations use pen and ink, pencil, and watercolor or watercolor pencils.

Over the past few years, I finally found a way that drawing digitally works for me. *gestures at pile of cheap tablets in the corner. At this point, I find my digital set up just as satisfying (and much more portable). I use Procreate, an iPad Pro, and a paperlike screen cover. Honestly, it was the screen cover that did it for me.

While I am learning, here is a quick gallery of some of my work.
